There is subtle threat of displacing Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit trekking by these trekking itineraries.

These both trekking are similar in terms of general landscape and altitude. Importantly, instead of spending nights at high altitude trekker can spend night at sub-alpine region and still can explore alpine and snowline landscape. A rear yet important co-incidence, experienced trekker like this trekking region for being quiet and less crowded, while amateur trekker appreciates this trekking well-balanced and practical in terms of altitude and difficulty. Exploring these trekking region before they become highly commercialized like other regions of Annapurna is a great idea.

6. Nar Phu Valley Trekking

Not popular like Upper Mustang, but Nar Phu valley trekking is another great itinerary to explore the Trans-Himalayan landscape of Nepal. Near, yet only few trekkers notice and trek around this region. The trekking is highly popular to understand and learn the religion, culture and tradition of highly marginalised community of Nar and Phu village. Plus, the region used to be temporary settlement of Khampa refugees where trekker can still see some remnants. Again Nar Phu valley itself is utterly beautiful in terms of landscape.

There is also a misconception of Nar Phu valley trekking assuming to be highly difficult, remote and demanding. True, adding Kang-La pass the trekking itinerary becomes a bit difficult. But trekker can skip Kang-La pass, explore culturally rich Nar and Phu valley and descend down retracing the same path took earlier. Improve Your Trekking Experience in Nepal

Improve your trekking experience in Nepal with simple tips. After giving all positive information and vibes for travellers and trekkers in Nepal, here are minor things that can disappoint some trekker in Nepal. Again, these things trouble only small fraction of trekker in Nepal. But still disappointment is a disappointment. Only few trekkers complain and few organizers talk about these things. But we want you to be prepared mentally and remain calm in such situations. Moreover, if you are trekking first time in Nepal, this can really help to improve your trekking experience in Nepal.

Genuinely, most of the trek organizers keep strong grip on these minor problems. Assuming trekkers might face these problems at some point while trekking in Nepal. Some can be solved once they arise or improvise them, and some are out of our control and there is no solution other than showing patience and staying calm. For example, standing in long queue in Airport for visa processing in Immigration upon arrival is not the thing we can tackle. Missing luggage, we can solve most of the time. Idea of avoiding hawkers and vendors is definitely controllable if a client wants and understands. But again, these things are never complained about by trekker and travellers in Nepal. However, a piece of information is always valuable to tackle some unwanted situation. we want to point out some possible problems and how you can improve your trekking experience in Nepal for better.

1. Arrival in Airport

During peak season, the numerous International flights and arrival of trekker is actually chaos in Nepal airport. Long queue for visa can take couple of hours. We suggest you to apply for Nepalese visa in Nepal Embassy or Consulate of Nepal, if it is nearby your hometown. If not, maintain calmness while standing in long queue at the Nepal airport. Representative from your agency will be waiting you outside eagerly. No matter how much time you take during the process.

If you miss luggage, either fill a form and submit to respective airline as soon as possible or meet your trekking organizer representative in airport who can help you for further processing. Most of the time, airlines work efficiently to provide luggage next day depending upon the transit you took.

There are numerous hawkers and vendors outside Airport offering you cheap price for transportation, trekking and any other activity if you have not booked your travel or trekking with agency. Some are genuine and some are not, but cheap is definitely questionable.

2. Selection of Hotel

Most of the trekker likes to spend night in periphery of Thamel a tourist hub. But there are also few trekkers who choose hotel outskirt of Thamel area. Some trekker and travellers like to book on their own, while some seeks help of travel and trekking agency. Thamel is so congested, a room in a section of hotel building can be quiet and peaceful, and the room on other section of same building can be noisy. The most common problem trekker and traveller complain about is selection of hotel. There are some poor-quality hotels in Thamel. Avoid it. The good thing is, trekking agency and organizers do not offer such kind of hotels for clients in first hand. Moreover, they are so serious with your problems, they provide alternative solutions in every possible situation instantly. Improve your trekking experience in Nepal by giving attention while selecting suitable accommodation.

3.Delay or Cancel of Domestic Flights

The mountainous geography is curse for domestic flights in Nepal. The weather keeps on changing in mountain region. Flights to Pokhara, Biratnagar and other major cities of the country is really not a big issue. In contrast, a trekker needs to have great patience flying in and out from places like Lukla and Jomsom. Most of the time, flights are delayed and in worst condition, they get cancelled as well. If a trekker has really tight schedule, then the actual problem arises. In such scenario, trekking agency and organizer suggests optional trekking itinerary. So, a trekker needs to remain calm and discuss possible options in case domestic flights get cancelled time and again. Strong mental preparation for such situation can help to improve your trekking experience in Nepal. Ask and make right and prompt decision if domestic flights are cancelled.

4.Poor-quality Nepali trekking crews

Even after booking your trekking through agency of Nepal, if you were entitled poor-quality Nepalese trekking crews. It’s a fraud. However, good news is that most trekking agency do not take such a massive risk. Most of the time they are good. The new generation trekking guide speaks good English and has better knowledge with outside world. In same way, aged trekking guides are highly experienced, but might not be as fluent as new generation trekking guides in terms of communication.  Most of the trekking agency arranges a meeting between you and trekking guide before start of trekking. Rarely the personal nature of guide (alcoholic? too much talkative? Overconfident?) can disappoint some trekker, but still most trekker does not like to complain about it. Strongly ask for good trekking guides and porters according to your need, to improve your trekking experience in Nepal.

5.Poor weather during trekking. Especially in crucial moment.

There is no biggest disappointment when weather dramatically changes in mountain. Especially in crucial moments, when you are about to climb Kalapatthar, Gokyo ri or reached Annapurna base camp. Some takes easily as fate of luck or natural phenomenon but every trekker might not feel such a way. But the bitter truth is you must cope with all those emotions there is nothing one can do. Again, if a trekker has no tight schedule, he/she can request to spend another extra day in hope weather gets better to enjoy the landscape. Most of the trekking guides and trekking organizer honestly wants you to enjoy such moments vividly and again will try to suggest possible options in such situation if there is any. Adding a reserve day in trekking itinerary can highly improve the experience of trekking in Nepal. Especially trekking around Base camps and high passes. Congested trekking itinerary is not great idea.

6. Highly crowded Base camp and Circuit treks

During peak seasons of trekking in Nepal, base camp treks and circuit treks are highly busy and crowded. Especially, around Everest and Annapurna trekking region. The backpackers and individual trekker suffer more comparing to organized treks. Most of the time in upper trekking region first come first service principle works. Trekking guides of Nepal, most of the time use their personal contact to book room in advance. More importantly in upper trekking region like Gokyo, Gorakshep, Annapurna Base camp where there are few numbers of tea-houses. Ask other less crowded trekking itineraries with your organizer, if you hate a busy route/trekking region. This can massively improve your trekking experience in Nepal. Trekking to Gokyo from Renjo-La pass instead of taking a direct route through Machhermo can be a good choice.

These are minor disappointment trekkers might face while trekking in Nepal. Obviously, negligible comparing the other numbers of beautiful aspects and experiences you achieve in Nepal. However, this is just a precautionary article about the situation that may arise during stay in Nepal. We hope, it makes easier to cope with such situations if trekkers and travellers stay informed beforehand. A small attention or small distraction can change whole experience of trekking in Nepal. Making either good or bad.

However, there are numerous other mini and short circuit treks in between these lengthy circuit treks. Even trekker can customize according to need and number of days.

Annapurna Round trekking

This trekking itinerary tops the list of best circuit treks in Nepal. One of the most popular and iconic trekking itineraries. The Annapurna round trekking is foundation for trekking tourism in Nepal. The trekking itinerary covers huge area of Annapurna. Sub-alpine and alpine villages like Pisang, Manang are utterly beautiful. Trekking in two different valleys of Marshyangdi and Kaligandaki crossing a Thorong-La pass is the best way trekker can experience the real Himalayas of Nepal.

Furthermore, the construction of road has made the itinerary short. As collateral, trekker can increase the number of trekking days as a side trip to other remote and isolated region of Annapurna. Tilicho lake, Nar Phu valley, even to Upper Mustang can be some real examples.

Round Manaslu trekking

Round Manaslu can be a great substitute to Annapurna round for the trekker who thinks road construction has killed the beauty of Annapurna. The Manaslu trekking region came in notice of trekker only from a decade back. The trekking used to be expensive then, because of camping trek. However, the increment of luxury tea-houses in the region is rock-hard proof that the influx of trekker in the region is rapid. Still, not as much as commercialized like Annapurna and Everest trekker can see, explore and experience how better it is to trek around the region that has less contact with outside world.

It is a popular trend to combine Tsum valley trekking with Round Manaslu trekking to see unique practices of Buddhism in the region. Moreover, Tsum valley has highly marginalized, sophisticated and distinctive community of Tsum people. Unlikely, yet trekker can continue to any section of Annapurna trekking region after completion of the Round Manaslu trekking.

Everest three pass trekking

Everest three pass trekking may sound unfamiliar as circuit trek. But in fact, the three passes in the Everest trekking region makes a round trekking itinerary. More importantly, combining Gokyo valley and Everest Base camp. Slightly difficult for general inexperienced and amateur trekker, yet the beautiful landscape of the region and Mount Everest brings this trekking itinerary at spot 3 on list of best circuit treks in Nepal. The single trekking itinerary covers the maximum landscape of Everest trekking region. It is highly recommended to trek this itinerary after few trekking experiences in Nepal for extra thrill and adventure.

Combining Island peak excursion adding 2-3 extra days in regular itinerary of Everest three pass trekking is very popular among the trekker. Doubtless, this circuit trek gives an excellent opportunity to explore some of the isolated region of Everest. Especially around Bhot valley, Renjo-La, Cho-La, Kongma-La pass where there are few number of trekkers in given time.

Langtang Gosaikunda trekking

The Langtang Gosaikunda trekking is highly under-rated trekking of Nepal. The region has no 8000m mountain, yet the trekker never complaints about it, once it is completed. This is the easiest and highly recommended trekking as a baby step to explore other remote trekking regions of Nepal in future. Near from Kathmandu valley, interesting geographic location, numerous exit and entry points to and from the Langtang trekking region make this trekking attractive. Especially for amateur and beginner trekkers in Nepal.

Combining with either Langtang valley or Tamang Heritage trail with Gosaikunda lake that finally descends to Helambu valley is one of the most popular trekking itineraries. Needless to say, Tamang people and culture is another major highlight of the trekking. Numerous small and big lakes in high altitude along with comparatively easy pass at Gosaikunda is something always trekker cherish about.

Kanchenjunga Base Camp trekking

The Sele-La pass that joins North Kanchenjunga and South Kanchenjunga base camps together make a circuit itinerary. Situated in far east of Nepal, this is one of the most isolated and remote circuit treks. The trekking region receives few numbers of trekker comparing other circuit treks of Nepal. Doubtless, the trekking is one of the most appreciated trekking itineraries in terms of geographical beauty and cultural diversity. Importantly, this trekking can be the best choice for trekker who wants to unfollow regular popular trekking itinerary and seek some adventure in Himalayas.

However, the lengthy and expensive transportation is the major drawback of Kanchenjunga region. So the region holds the last spot on the list of best circuit treks in Nepal. Plus, the lack of luxurious tea-houses can be concerning for some trekkers. But mark our words, a quiet trail, beautiful landscape, certain degree of adventure, genuinely overcomes these concern and doubt of trekkers. After all, doing the things what others usually don’t attempt is an adventure.

Properly built tea houses, hot water, battery charging facilities, communication facility, transportation options, clean beds and fresh foods are some example. These facilities above 4000m are serious things to consider. Local entrepreneur highly maintains these facilities during trekking season of Nepal. However, influx of trekker and these facilities are directly proportional. The trekking region where the number of trekkers is high has the best luxury and infrastructures and the region where there is less flow of trekkers, are average. For example, Everest, Annapurna and Langtang trekking regions have numerous trekkers and the tea house owner has upgraded the service accordingly. Few trekker visit Kanchenjunga, and the facility and luxury at Kanchenjunga is not as equal as Everest. Another great reason why next vacation should be trekking in Nepal.

Stable political situation and no security threats for trekkers

Nepal tourism industry wrecked down during the civil war in between 1996-2006. Security threats, demand of donation from trekker, strikes hampered the tourism industry of Nepal a lot in those years. So, due to limited number of proper tea houses in the region, it was necessary to do camping trekking (which used to be expensive). Plus, because of limited food menu available in tea houses, organizer had to carry some extra food even from Kathmandu. The scenario has drastically changed in recent years. Except during busy Tiji festival trekker can spend night at comfortable tea house. The quality and number of food menu has significantly increased. Local tea house entrepreneur started hiring and training cooks to increase the quality of food. The upper Mustang and Lo-Manthang trek region has become prosperous in terms of providing good food and luxury accommodation to trekker in recent years.

Upper Mustang and Lo-Manthang trek is the most iconic trekking itinerary. Trekking beyond high Himalayan ranges is thrilling itself. Everest three High pass Trekking

Everest three high pass trekking itinerary in Everest region is, in fact, a Everest Round trekking. It starts at Lukla, makes a circuit from Namche Bazaar to Namche Bazaar and ends at Lukla. Moreover, the Everest three high pass trekking approximately covers 75% of Everest trekking region. Three high pass namely Renjo-La (5345m), Cho-La (5370m) and Kongma- La (5535m) including Everest Base Camp and Gokyo trekking ultimately makes Everest Round trekking.

The trekking starts upon flying to Lukla. From Namche Bazaar trekking through Thame and crossing Renjo-La pass trekkers are in beautiful valley of Everest the Gokyo. From Gokyo crossing Cho-La pass trekkers join to famous trekking path to Everest Base Camp. Upon conquering Everest Base camp, trekker heads to last high pass Kongma-La pass from Lobuche. Descending, from Kongma-La pass trekker joins to Chhukung and finally to Tengboche and Namche, the trekking hub of Everest trekking region. Thus, Everest three high pass trekking is Everest Round trekking. All the interesting, beautiful, famous landscape and places of Everest trekking region come under single itinerary.

Everest three high pass trekking is unique trekking itinerary in different way. Again, it is not only about high grade of adventure. Various climatic zone, wildlife and vegetation, raw Sherpa culture around Lungden, Mirlung, famous monasteries in Thame and Tengboche, numerous chortens, manis wall are some highlights of Everest Round trekking. Renjo-La and Gokyo ri is the place from where trekker can summarize the whole landscape of Everest trekking region, especially of deep northern side. Superiorly, two famous places of Everest trekking region Gokyo valley and Everest Base camp is joint by thrilling Cho-La pass. Stepping Everest Base camp and enjoying the close-up view of Mount Everest from Kalapatthar, trekker heads to Kongma-La pass. The pass is popular to enjoy the landscape and mountain of eastern Nepal especially Makalu and Kanchenjunga. The settlement of people around interesting place Chhukung is something trekker enjoys for sure.

However, this beautiful trekking might not be convenient for general trekkers. Firstly, 20 days itself is a long itinerary. Importantly, trekkers need to have general idea of trekking in Nepal. Crossing three high pass trekking really requires some desire, fitness, excitement, and courage. Especially for trekkers who live around the sea level and tropical region of the planet. The things become much easier and efficient to those trekkers who has done few trekking in past and has few experiences of trekking in Nepal. The long Everest Round trekking itinerary seems to make the trekking expensive, but considering the opportunity to explore massive area of Everest trekking region, it is actually economic.

There are also few debates of starting and completing Everest three high pass trekking clockwise or anti-clockwise. There is nothing much differences. Some trekking agency claims trekking anti-clockwise can reduce the chances of Altitude sickness attack. Which we believe is not a sure-shot to tackle Altitude sickness. If that would have been the case, then lots of trekkers never would have chosen Everest three high pass with Island peak itinerary from clockwise direction. Seeing a close-up view of Mount Everest from Kalapatthar, there is no good reason left to cross a Renjo-La pass. Trekking anti clockwise kills the beauty, excitement, curiosity, and purpose of Everest three high pass trek once they capture Everest from such a close range. It is not good if trekker decides to skip Cho-La pass and Renjo-La pass after reaching Everest Base Camp. Regarding concern on altitude sickness, a day hike to Sumdur peak at Thame is enough to acclimatize to cross Renjo-La.

However, starting clockwise, trekker can spend quality times at some of the isolated, quiet and remote places of Everest trekking region. Which itself is thrilling and adventurous. After all, Everest three high pass trekking is meant for adventure. Moreover, we don’t want trekker to make wrong decision of not crossing Renjo-La after reaching Gokyo valley. But if a trekker is not sure and satisfied with our reasoning, we provide optional itinerary to address his/her concerns.

Most importantly, restricted area permit (special permit) issued by the Department of Immigration of Nepal.

4. Transportation

During Annapurna circuit trek, trekker drives to Besisahar from Kathmandu in asphalt road. From Besisahar, trekker can either drive in off-road or start trek. Trekker can choose any point to start trek in between Besisahar and Chame. Starting beyond Chame, ultimately increases the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Upon crossing Thorong-La and reaching Muktinath the trek re-join off-road drive on other side of Kaligandaki valley particularly at Muktinath. Those with limited time are recommended to fly out from Jomsom to Pokhara. From Pokhara trekker can choose numerous modes of transportation depending upon budget.

In similar fashion for Manaslu circuit trek, trekker drives to either Arughat or Sotikhola from Kathmandu. After reaching Dharapani crossing Larkey- La pass, trekker can ride a jeep or continue to trek to Syange/ Besisahar. From Besisahar can either ride a local bus or private car to Kathmandu. Comparing between Manaslu circuit trek and Annapurna circuit trek, Annapurna trekking is highly feasible and rich in terms of transportation after construction of road in both Marshyangdi and Kaligandaki valley.

5. Difficulty Level

Since, Manaslu circuit trek was relatively new in trekking market, it used to be considered difficult than Annapurna Circuit trek. Moreover, in past trekker had to do camping trekking due to lack of tea houses in Manaslu region. But the scenario has changed after new and comfortable tea houses are introduced in Manaslu trekking region. Both trekking has high altitude pass. Thorong-La pass (5416m) is the highest altitude trekker gains during Annapurna circuit trek. Larkey-La pass (5106m) is the highest altitude in Manaslu circuit trek. However, Annapurna circuit trek is luxurious comparing Manaslu circuit trek in terms of facilities. Comparing between Manaslu circuit trek and Annapurna circuit trek in terms of difficulty, Manaslu is slightly difficult.

6. Major trekking Highlights

In Annapurna circuit trek, Mount Annapurna (8091m) is the main theme of trekking. In Manaslu circuit trek Mount Manaslu (8163m) is the main highlight of trekking. Gurung, Thakali, Manangi are the main inhabitant of Annapurna circuit trek following Buddhism. Nubri and Tsum people confined only in Manaslu trekking region, following typical Buddhism is the cultural highlight of trekking. One can see the raw culture and tradition of people in Manaslu circuit trek because of rear contact with the outside world. Plus, trekker has the option to explore Manaslu Base Camp in same trekking itinerary. In contrast, a trekker cannot trek to Annapurna Base Camp during Annapurna Circuit. Possible but, requires a huge number of extra days to complete Annapurna circuit trek and Annapurna Base Camp trek in same trekking itinerary.

Both trekking being, the round trekking has similar kind of landscapes. Both trekking has tropical, sub-tropical, lower-temperate, upper-temperate, sub-alpine, alpine and snowline climatic zone. However, during Annapurna circuit trek, trekker can enjoy the section of Trans-Himalaya climatic zone as well, from Muktinath to Marpha.

But again, Nar Phu valley is remote trekking and Kang-La pass is difficult pass for general trekker. Trekking to Tilicho lake from Manang that joins at Yak Kharka is another possibility.

Trekking to Tsum valley is another option for trekkers in Manaslu circuit trek. Once, properly acclimatized, trekker, can continue to any section of Annapurna Circuit trek driving in jeep from Dharapani instead of descending down to Besisahar. If a trekker has completed Annapurna Circuit trek, it is highly recommended to make Manaslu circuit trek next target in Nepal. Trekker definitely won’t regret choosing Manaslu circuit trek over Annapurna circuit trek.

Choosing between Gokyo valley trek and Everest Base Camp trek

Choosing between Gokyo valley trek and Everest Base camp trek in Everest trekking region is not easy and can be a confusing for most of the trekker. Usually, for those trekkers who have partial or little knowledge and information on Everest trekking region. It is sad, Gokyo valley being one of the most beautiful trekking valleys, is overshadowed by the base camp trek. Considering the landscape and beauty of the Everest trekking region, Gokyo valley trek is far beautiful comparing to Everest base camp. Not to mention, Everest base camp is a brand which everybody knows about and doesn’t need marketing. Easy sale.

In the first place, it is the desire of individual trekker to step base camp, that makes all the difference. Equally important, being an entrepreneur, it is hard to lose business suggesting Gokyo valley trek over Everest base camp trek to any trekker. Things become more complicated to convince trekker, when he/she is trekking in Nepal for the first time and make inquiries on Everest Base Camp trek in first instance. Trekkers (not everybody) who have completed both the trekking most of the time (not every time) would admire Gokyo valley trek over Everest base camp trek. We believe this article can be useful for trekker in choosing between Gokyo valley trek and Everest base camp trek in Everest trekking region. In brief, let’s figure out the differences and similarities.

Trekking Itinerary

The trekking itinerary up to Namche Bazaar is same for both the Gokyo valley trek or Everest Base camp trek . After acclimatizing in Namche, for Everest base camp, trekker heads east-north while for Gokyo trek, trekker heads further north from Namche Bazaar. Trek through Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorakshep to reach Everest base camp. Pass by the settlement of Dole and Machhermo to reach Gokyo valley. 15 days to Everest Base Camp and 14 days to Gokyo valley are our standard itinerary for general trekker. However, trekking days can be different depending upon different agency and organizer. As well, trekker can trek to Gokyo valley crossing Renjo-La pass within 15 days via Thame and Lungden. Trekker heads west-north from Namche Bazaar for Gokyo valley trekking through Renjo- La .

Note; A trekker can trek to Everest base camp through Cho-La pass after completing Gokyo valley trek. Again, trekker needs strong desire and mentality to attempt this itinerary.

Landscape After Namche Bazaar

We hope, providing the general info of landscape after Namche Bazar can make easier in choosing between Gokyo valley trek and Everest base camp trek in Everest trekking region. For Everest Base camp trek, trek through sub-alpine forest enjoying the Himalayan birds and animals especially around Tengboche. Landscape changes after Pangboche, and trekker mostly see small bushes and open meadows. After numerous gentle climbs and crossing open large flat plateau of Pheriche, trekker reaches Thugla. Climbing steep up-hill to the ridge of Thugla, the landscape becomes rocky and barren to reach Lobuche. After Lobuche, trekker mostly trek on rocky path eaten up by glacier to reach Gorakshep, in the foothill of Kalapathhar. Continuing from Gorakshep, trekker can see old alpine landscape eaten by the Khumbu glacier and Pumori glacier. Most of the trekking path is rocky, icy with big boulders along with small water ponds. Most imporatntly, Kalapatthar is windy, rocky black hill at the top of Gorakshep to enjoy the sunrise and close-up view of Mount Everest.

For Gokyo trek as well, there is great chance to spot wild birds and animals around sub-alpine forest of Phortse-thanga. The landscape gradually changes upon crossing Mongla to reach Dole. From Dole landscape changes sharply, specially can see small juniper bushes and open meadows to reach Machhermo in sub-alpine climatic zone. In addition, the landscape becomes more interesting with short climbs and downs with many small gullies. From Pangka, the landscape becomes rocky and barren to reach the Gokyo eaten up by glacier. Passing by two lakes the trekking continues to a settlement of Gokyo by the bank of Dudhpokhari; the third lake. There are six small and big lakes in total. Gokyo ri is a hill top view-point from where trekker can enjoy whole Everest trekking region landscape from single spot.

Scenery/Mountain view

Generally speaking, this is where, choosing between Gokyo valley trek and Everest base camp trek becomes more confusing. A trekker can spot beautiful near and close up view of Ama Dablam from Tengboche with Mount Everest and Lhotse far at horizon. Small hills around the valley keeps cheating the view of Everest and Lhotse again and again. Trekker can enjoy the actual alpine climatic zone especially after climbing the Thugla ridge. Pumori looks near and beautiful all the way to Gorakshep and futher to base camp. A trekker can see top of Mount Everest occasionally. However, the most irritating part of trekking to Everest Base camp is, most of the view is blocked by massive Nuptse. After all, climbing Kalapatthar, a trekker can see the actual top of Everest very close and beautiful alongside Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse and many more.

In contrast, for Gokyo valley trek, instead of trekking through deep valley, a trekker mostly climbs through small numerous ridges. This gives an excellent opportunity to enjoy the landscape of Everest trekking region in aggregate. For example, trekker can enjoy the view of Ama Dablam from bottom (along with glacier) to top. The exceptional view of Mount Cho-Oyu directly upfront during the trekking is thing a trekker cannot ignore. Like in Everest base camp trek, small hills keep cheating the beautiful mountain landscape but not for too long. The trekking becomes more fascinating after reaching Gokyo lake. Climbing Gokyo ri, one can see Mount Everest far, but can sum-up Everest trekking region from a single spot.Equally important, hiking around the fifth lake is great way to explore deep Gokyo valley trek.

Difficulty/ Altitude

Uniquely, there is not much difference in choosing between Gokyo valley trek and Everest base camp trek in terms of difficulty level. Kalapathhar (5600m) is the maximum altitude a trekker gain beside Base Camp (5364m) during the Everest Base Camp trek. Climbing Kalapathhar, a windy hill in early morning is the most difficult part of trekking.

Similarly, climbing Gokyo ri (5375m) is the maximum altitude a trekker gain during the Gokyo valley trek. Exploration around fifth lake in deep snowline of Everest trekking region can be difficult. Not considering altitude, but due to the remoteness and isolation around the deep valley of Gokyo.

Achievement for trekker

Choosing between Gokyo valley trek and Everest base camp trek highly depends upon what trekker wants to achieve? During Everest base camp trek, achievement of stepping Everest base camp plus enjoying the close-up view of Mount Everest is something trekker can be proud of. In Gokyo valley trek, a trekker can embrace the beautiful mountain landscape of Everest trekking region in total. Exploration of five Gokyo lakes in such a high altitude is nothing less thrilling than conquering Everest base camp.

Final Note: To enjoy the close-up view of Mount Everest, select Everest base camp trek. To enjoy the actual Everest trekking region in total, select Gokyo valley trek. Independently, an author feels Gokyo valley trek is more beautiful in terms of enjoying landscape of Everest trekking region in totality. Write us back if you still are confused on choosing between Gokyo valley trek and Everest Base camp trek. We help you further. As well suggestions from experts are welcome.

We respect your heard earnings and suggest you to spend wisely. We genuinely don’t say these given points are milestone to cut-down price of trekking in Nepal. But we can say, out of many more options there, these are few reliable and easy secret tips for cheap trekking in Nepal.

1.Making trekking group size as large as possible.

This is one of the biggest secret for cheap trekking in Nepal. More friends in your group, cheaper the price. Any trekking agency will consider the quoted price if you have big group of trekkers. Say if you have a group of 10 people you will get better deal. Once you are trekking in larger group the price is equally shared. Guide/Porter cost, hiring private car, sharing room and so on.

So, we suggest a trekker, spread your message of “travelling to Nepal” as much possible in between family, co-workers and colleagues. Moreover, ask them to join to trek to Nepal. There is nothing wrong giving them a call, sending email and informing about your plan. Planning 6 months in advance is the best way so everybody can have enough time to decide and make necessary adjustments. Principle of booking flight tickets apply as well in booking trekking in Nepal. Early booking is secret tips for cheap trekking in Nepal.

2.Selecting (Choosing) less crowded itinerary/trekking region/number of trekking days

Selecting less crowded itinerary or trekking region is another secret tips for cheap trekking in Nepal. It is hard yet possible. Ranking cheap trekking region Langtang trekking region< Annapurna trekking region< Everest trekking region. Also, the number of days is important. Longer the trekking itinerary, cheaper the price. For example, there is massive chance a trekking agency will provide cheap price to Annapurna Round trekking in comparison to Annapurna Base Camp trekking. Here number of days play important role. However, if you have already decided the trekking region/ itinerary/ number of days it is worthy to ask for few considerations. After all, Nepali proverb says “customers are god”.

3.Booking medium-priced hotel over five-star hotel

This is not in actual secret tips for cheap trekking in Nepal. In a sense everybody are aware about it.There is nothing new to explain in this topic. There are lots of accommodation (hotel) category in Nepal. Starting from as less as USD 5.00 to USD 250.00+. However, general trekkers are happy with luxury and service of medium-priced hotels. Generally, around USD 40.00 per night. Even though, this is personal choice of any trekker we recommend using hotel in between the range of USD 40.00 to USD 60.00 to get maximum benefits. Again, this is personal choice of trekker and there is no reason for us to influence their personal decision.

4.Asking for appropriate mode of transportation

Local bus<tourist bus<private car/flight in order of cheap to expensive mode of transportation in Nepal. Usually, we do not recommend local bus since they are crowded and slow and some of them are really old. Tourist bus can be appropriate for trekker to reduce the cost. Private car/jeep/bus becomes cheap for individual trekker if there are other trekkers to share the cost. Otherwise flight would be the best option for solo traveller specially to save the time. To go to Pokhara for Annapurna trekking region, using tourist bus is the best option to cut the price.
