Our Jungle Safaris

Jungle safaris in Nepal is one of the under-estimated activity by travelers. The northern alpine and snowline region of Nepal is popular for trekker, climbers, and mountaineers. In contrast, the lower Southern tropical and Sub-tropical lowland are popular for wildlife enthusiasts. The tropical lowland forest has hardwood sal, bamboo, and palm with open grassland. It is the natural habitat for many mammals, reptile, bird, and arthropod including some endangered species.

Nepal has successfully recorded 1120 species of non-flowering plants and 5160 species of flowering plants. Surprisingly, this small country records 208 mammal species,844 bird species,100 reptile species,43 amphibian species,635 butterfly species and 185 freshwater fish. Out of 20 protected areas, 8 of them are on the southern lowland of Nepal. Together with Shuklaphanta National Park, Bardiya National park, Banke National park, Krishnasaar(Blackbuck) Conservation are on far west of Nepal. Chitwan National Park and Parsa wildlife on the central lowland of Nepal. Similarly, Koshi Tappu wildlife reserve lies on the far eastern part of Nepal. Each protected areas has unique vegetation flora and fauna with the characteristic ecosystem.

Royal Bengal tiger, one-horn rhinoceros, sloth bear, leopard, Asian elephant, ruddy mongoose, golden jackal, spotted deer and striped hyenas are the major mammal of attraction. Mugger crocodiles, gharials, king cobra, rock python, different toad species, turtle species, frog species and lizard species form a group of interesting wild reptiles and amphibians. Sadly, two-third bird species found in Nepal are globally endangered species. Swamp francolin, grey-crowned prinia, spotted eagle, Bengal florican, lesser adjutant, oriental white black vulture, slender-billed vulture are highly endangered species found along with numerous other migrating and non-migrating birds.

However, Chitwan National park is the nearest park from Kathmandu making one of the first and best choices for Jungle safaris.
