Toursit Visa policy of Nepal is travel-friendly. People entering Nepal, from a foreign country requires tourist visa except for Indian nationalities. Citizens from most of the countries can obtain Nepalese tourist visa on arrival. Travellers can apply tourist visa online from the site of the Department of Immigration.

Citizens from following nation need to obtain visa of Nepal, in advance.

According to tourist visa policy of Nepal, citizens from these countries require to obtain a visa prior to enter/travel Nepal. They are not entitled visa on arrival.

Visa Fee Waiver/ Free Visa/ Gratis Visa

The visa policy of Nepal, exempts the visa fee for citizens of SAARC country for 30 days. They are

Afghanistan
Bangladesh
Bhutan
Maldives
Pakistan
Sri Lanka

A traveller to Nepal need not pay visa fee under these circumstances.

#Children below 10 years except for US citizen.

# Non-Residents Nepalese ( NRN ) holding diplomatic designation.

#Since 1st January 2016 citizens from China, Hongkong and Macau need not to pay tourist visa fee.

#Official from China, Brazil, Russia and Thailand based on reciprocal visa fee waiver programme.

Visa on Arrival

Except for the citizens from above-mentioned countries and refugee travel document holder, any foreigners can obtain visa on arrival. Holders of temporary passport are not eligible for a visa unless the temporary passport is issued by members of the European Union. Visa on arrival is available at following places.

Process to obtain Tourist visa on Arrival

1. Fill in Arrival card.

2. Fill online Tourist visa form. Can submit visa form through kiosk machine on arrival at airport. Or, traveller can fill the online visa form through the website of Department of Immigration, prior to arrival. Print the submission receipt and barcode and bring along with you. The submission of receipt and barcode is valid for only 15 days.

3. Pay the visa fee at Bank and get the receipt. Payment of visa fee in cash is easy.

4. Submit online form, valid passport and receipt of visa fee to the Immigration desk.

5.The officer from Department of Immigration will issue visa, once you have followed and completed the procedure appropriately.

Tourist Visa Extension Fee

#Tourist Visa extension is done for minimum 15 days with fee of USD 45.00. For additional days need to pay USD 3.00 /day.

#In case of delay in extension up to 150 days, USD 5.00 /per days is charged as a fine.

Note

#Your passport must be valid for at least six months.

#Nepali visa is valid only for three to six months from the date of issue, to enter Nepal.

#Carry sufficient cash for visa fee. Us Dollar, Euro, Swiss Franc, Pound Sterling, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Honkong Dollar, Singaporean Dollar and Japanese Yen  are the currency accepted to issue Tourist visa.

# For any other purpose besides travel, one needs to obtain Tourist visa first anyway. And can change the category later from the Department of Immigration at Kalikasthan, with the appropriate procedure.
